Divaško jamo je odkril Gregor Žiberna  leta 1884, ko se je spustil na dno jame in se razgledal na okrog je zaklical ven: ”fantje pridite dol, v Ameriki smo”. Jama je dolga 700 m, 500 m pa je urejenih za turistični ogled.  Pri ogledu  jame se spustimo do globine 50 m. V jami si lahko ogledamo izredno kapniško bogastvo Divaškega Krasa. 

V njej najdemo pisane  stalagmite, sigaste kope, ciprese, številne zavese in sveče. Največje bogastvo jame pa je Zakladnica z mnogimi belo-rdečimi zavesami ter helektitnimi izrastki in velikimi kristali. V jami si si našle svoje domovanje tudi številne vrste jamskih živali, številni netopirji, redno jo obiskuje lesna sova in pa kune.

THE DIVAČA CAVE

Divača Cave was discovered by Gregor Žiberna in 1884, when he descended to the bottom of the cave and looked around, he shouted out: “Guys, come down, we are in America”. The cave is 700 m long and 500 m are arranged for tourist viewing. When visiting the cave, we descend to a depth of 50 m. In the cave we can see the extraordinary stalactite richness of the Divača Karst.

It features colorful stalagmites, flowstone piles, cypresses, numerous curtains and candles. The greatest treasure of the cave is the Treasury with many white and red curtains and helectite outcrops and large crystals. Many species of cave animals, many bats, a wood owl and martens also find their home in the cave.

Jamo je mogoče obiskati kadarkoli tudi izven urnika, po predhodni najavi na telefon: +386 (0)31 522 785 – Borut, + 386 (0)41 498 103 – Kristjan.

Obisk traja dobro uro. Priporočamo športno obutev in topla oblačila, temperatura v jami je 8oC.

It is always possible to visit the cave out of the regular schedule. Arrangements will be made after a timely announcement of your arrival on our phone: +386 (0)31 522 785 Borut, + 386 (0)41 498 103 Kristjan.

Visit lasts full hour. We recommend warm clothing and walking shoes. Temperature in the cave is 8oC (46.4o F).

Od ustanovitve dalje je poslanstvo Jamarskega društva “Gregor Žiberna” Divača tudi skrb za turistični razvoj Divaške jame. To delo si jemljemo kot dolžnost, saj društvo nosi ime prvo pristopnika in do življenskega vodnika po Divaški jami. Že takoj po ustanovitvi društva, leta 1965 so bili izdelani prvi načrti za obnovitev in ureditev porušenega vhoda v Divaško jamo in obuditev zamrlega jamskega turizma. Dve leti kasneje, leta 1967, je društvo že organiziralo ogled Divaške jame, kamor so popeljali Joška Žiberno. Ta je bil v njej že leta 1926, ko ga je vodil sorodnik Gregor Žiberna – Tentava. Prvo temeljitejše urejanje vhoda se je pričelo leta 1974 in bilo dokončano v letih 1986-87. Poti v jami pa so bile obnovljene v letih 2007 – 2022. ABOUT US

Since its establishment, the mission of the Divača Cave Society “Gregor Žiberna” has also been to take care of the tourist development of the Divača Cave. We take this work as a duty, as the association bears the name of the first man who entered the cave and lifelong guide in the Divača Cave. Immediately after the founding of the association, in year 1965, first plans were made for the restoration and arrangement of the demolished entrance to the Divača Cave and the revival of cave tourism. Two years later, in 1967, the society already organized a tour of the Divača Cave, where Joško Žiberna, grandson of first explorer was taken. It was already in it in year 1926, when it was run by a relative Gregor Žiberna – Tentava. The first thorough arrangement of the entrance began in 1974 and it was finished in 1986-87. The interior of the cave experienced a true renaissance in recostruction of the trails in years 2007 – 2022. KAKO DO JAME

Jama se nahaja ob cesti Divača-Lokev približno 1,5 km od Divače. Sledimo usmerjevalnim tablam ob cesti. Obiščete jo lahko tudi tisti, ki v Divačo prispete z vlakom. S tamkajšnje železniške postaje pridemo do jame po učni poti Divaški kras skozi kraški gozd in mimo velikih udornih dolin. Ta možnost je primerna za poldnevni izlet.

HOW TO RICH THE CAVE


The cave is located along the Divača-Lokev (Lipica  Stud) road about 1.5 km from Divača. Follow the signposts along the road. The cave is also a suitable destination for those who come to Divača by a train. One has to walk from the railway station on the Divaški kras Education Trail that leads thorough karst  wood and past large collapse valleys. This  alternative  is  a  wonderful opportunity for a half day trip.
